Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is often used to treat people who are recovering from accidents, and for sports injuries as it increases blood circulation in muscles, relieves chronic muscle tension throughout the body, and can also break down scar tissue and help release “knots” deep in the muscles. Deep tissue massage is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff “trouble spots” in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage can be quite therapeutic — relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries, such as back sprain.  Deep tissue massage helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around your body. This gets rid of toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal.


The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes and rhythmic on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing.   Swedish massage can aid in lymphatic circulation, speeding up the elimination of toxins, and help the movement of waste in the intestines. There are also more immediate benefits, such as stretching muscles and connective tissue, increasing the range of motion of joints, reducing pain and inflammation, and preventing the formation of adhesion.    Emotionally, the physical touch involved in these sessions can help lower the sense of isolation a person might feel, increase their comfort level with their bodies, and over all give a person a sense of calmness and serenity, which is all too rare in our fast-paced society. Swedish massage is a wonderful tool to promote wellness and happiness, for any kind of person.


Reflexology uses “maps” of the hands and feet to determine which body systems correspond with one another. The extremities are broken down into tiny color-coded sections on the map that make it clear which organs, muscles and bones will be affected by applying pressure to certain areas.   There are maps for the feet, hands and the outer ears (see Reference section). For example, in the feet, the left foot corresponds to organs on the left side of the body, while the right side of the foot corresponds to the right side of the body. More specifically, the gallbladder is on the right side of the body, and therefore the reflex point is on the right side of the foot.   Reflexology is sometimes referred to as a massage, but it is not a massage in the typical sense of the word. Massage involves applying pressure over large sections of the body to target the muscular and circulatory systems. Reflexology, on the other hand, focuses on pointed, specific areas of the feet, hands and ears. It can target not only the main body systems that massage affects but also specific organs, like the liver, bladder and kidneys.

Today’s world is extremely stressful. There is too much to do, too little time, and too much stimulus. Constantly the world is pecking at your sanity and serenity- buy this, buy that, go here, go there, pressure, pressure, pressure.   Relaxation Massage can soothe away these stresses. It can help you feel more balanced, centered, at ease, and better prepared to handle the stresses of the world. A relaxation massage is the same as our Swedish massage. The purpose of a relaxation massage is to calm the nervous system, promote a sense of well-being, improve circulation and range of movement and to relieve minor muscle pain. It is not designed to work the deeper muscles of the body. A relaxation massage is primarily focused on gentle kneading and rubbing of the outer layers of muscle and skin.  This is the easiest way to eliminate daily stress.



Sports massage is a deep massage that really works the muscles and is an extremely effective mechanism for loosening tight muscles, refreshing aching limbs and preparing your body for your next bout of action.  It was developed to help with muscle systems used for a particular sport.  Sports massage uses a variety of approaches to help athletes in training — before, during, or after sporting events. You might use it to promote flexibility and help prevent injuries. Or, it may help muscle strains, aiding healing after a sports injury.  After an injury, rest is vital along with the help of medical massage therapy.  We help in a speedy treatment plan that can get you back to being active in your sport in no time.   It could be anything from a pinched nerve to a sprained ankle.   Each massage is custom to you and the exact sport(s) you play.

Hot Stones

Hot stone massage is by using basalt, an iron-rich type of rock to keep hold of the heat and putting it onto certain parts of the body. It will improve the circulation of the nervous system and it will help relax the muscles especially the tired and stressful muscles you have from work. It is very soothing because the heat from the stones will transport through the key points of your body to help in proper circulation of the blood.  The therapist may implement pressure onto the stones if desired by the clients for a more soothing experience.  For this kind of massage, the therapist places warmed stones on certain areas of the body, such as acupressure points. The stones may be used as massage tools or be temporarily left in place. Used along with other massage techniques, hot stones can be quite soothing and relaxing as they transmit heat deep into the body leaving the muscles loose and relaxed.


Thai Massage is a combination of acupressure massage techniques and yoga style body stretching. Receiving a Thai massage will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and totally rejuvenated.   During a Thai massage, I use my body to move the client into a variety of positions. This type of massage includes compression of muscles, mobilization of joints, and acupressure.  Thai massage is stretching your muscles very similar to yoga, only you are relaxed during this.  I will stretch your body in many different ways to release tension and stiffness giving you a wider range of motion.  This type of massage is also great for athletes.  I try to incorporate Thai into other types of massage for a variation of massage and stretching techniques.
